In Houston alone, there are an estimated 7,200 rape kits, dating back to 1992, that have never undergone DNA testing. The statute of limitations on sexual assault cases is 10 years, so every day that passes without testing a kit's evidence for a DNA match potentially means another victim will never see justice done.
